This motor does not produce any great output power as it spins, and yet it is an important device because it can run indefinitely without needing a battery to power it. Instead of a battery, the motor uses a capacitor. Initially, the capacitor is discharged fully, showing that the device is definitely at a minimum power level. The motor is then given a gentle spin, from which it develops its own power and accelerates to its normal operating speed.
