We are not yet in the Information Age, we are in the pressurization period just previous to it because there is still one of the required elements missing - an appropriate global law forum. Age's are defined by their commercial models, each Age is distinguished by 3 core-comprising elements of any commercial model, these are:
1) Governing Element
(Who enforces the Rules - What Force - Can we organize Ourselves?)
2) Currency Type
(Who's money do we use? What is it? Can we make our own?)
3) Law Forum
(Who's rules do we use? Can we make our own?)
Together, these three elements create a unified or holistic system called an "economic/commercial" model. Each of the previous Ages through which we have evolved are defined by the commercial models of their time, these models appropriately reflected the socio-economic structures of the time periods. The Information Age, New Age, will beyond imagination because for the first time in history people will be able to congregate in territory transcending physical existence - in Virtual Realities based on needs, affinities, and cultures.
Before the nation‑state, it was difficult to count the number of sovereignties that existed in the world, each which issued it's own coins, because they overlapped in complex ways and many varied forms of organization exercised power. They will do so again in the Information Age. In fact what is missing, the reason no one has created a new sovereign cyber-space where rich and poor alike can meet on equal terms, is we don't have a law forum. No one has created one.
We have 100's if not more various online currency exchangers, all calling there Credits a Currency; and we also have a new form of underlying body responsible for our civil infrastructure - corporations, we simply don't have a new law forum that reflects the needs of a globalized planet. The people of the planet are separated by legal jurisdictions, that is to say "Law Forums" which preclude them from meeting on an equal playing field and making available to potential for a flat economy.
In order to implement an "economic/commercial" model that reflects the potential of the Information technologies now at our disposal, an un-incorporated private association, which creates a global forum is required. This forum would ensure through system programming that all participants are on a flat playing field within the confines of the cyber-association - on other words each individual would be recognised as a Sovereign Individual.
These cyber-associations will have their own currencies, programming parameters, and cultures that will answer the needs of a globalized world. As a species and consciousness evolving from one Age to the next, the benchmark for our future should be that we (the Peers) should be able to co-create our own affinity communities with commercial components appropriate to that community's culture.
This is the inevitable manifest destiny of the Information Age. We are so close.
