Book Review: Deadly Little Secret by Laurie Faria Stolarz – Jessica Lawlor
Again, was this just an attempt to throw the reader off the trail? Litttle 23, Summer marked it as to-read. Since Ben and her broke up in the last book, she’s been hanging with Adam more often. Until I was like, you know what, I remembered liking some things about it and so finally picked it up again. But then he starts to warm to her–even sttolarz he warns her that she shouldn’t be friends with him, it’s too secrt. Things are not always as they seem and for the firs time, I was completely absorbed in this book.
You don’t get to know Camelia all that well, even though she narrates – there’s not much going on in her head aside from describing what she sees. However, the recaps were yet again on my nerves. I really need to stop putting off reading some of these sequels to series I had started liking then started losing interest. BUT something happens at the end that caused me to reconsider him.
Is it worth reading, it should only take me a day? Now it’s Christmas Eve, and I woke up today realizing I started the series around this time. View the Lesson Plans. See all 4 questions about Deadly Little Secret….
Deadly Little Secret
The only reason it got four stars was because there wasn’t enough Ben for me, he was there but it was like he was in the background or there only when needed and Adam was still ruining things for Camelia and Ben. Sttolarz were numerous laugh-out-loud moments whenever the trio were together.
I finished it in a matter of hours. Camelia is always getting herself is some sort of situation, but what do you expect from someone with supernatural abilities and Nancy Drew tendencies.
That never really hsppens. With the line between reality and dream consistently blurred, Camelia turns to pottery to get a grip on her emotions.
Camila is not very reflective, and we don’t know her thoughts beyond what is imediately happening to her. I mean, really dude? And I’m curious what will happen in the final one and how will it end of course. Cammie whines incessantly throughout the book and quite frankly, I am just tired and bored with the direction of the series.
When I read the first part of your review I totally thought Twilight, but it sounds like this book is totally different and while it has some blaring similarities it takes a definite different route. Camelia Hammond is starting her last year of school, but instead of looking forward she can’t help but look back, to three months ago at the end of the last school year when her life was saved by a beautiful boy who then disappeared.
The times where I didn’t like Camelia all had to do with Adam. You fought back hard- I’ll give you that- but you were no match for him. He has also saved her numerous times and the last time doesn’t even take the credit. And so you wait.
Deadly Little Voices (Touch, #4) by Laurie Faria Stolarz
However, I really did enjoy Deadly Little Secrets. I was also annoyed with how long it seemed for everything to happen in this book. She finally sees him again at seecret a couple of months later, but when she wants to thank him for saving her life he denies everything.
I liked that it didn’t rule the plot line. Not to put down any fans of this series, but it feels like this book is more for younger teens like than young adults, and certainly, in my opinion, not entertaining enough to hold the attention of adults.
My favourite part of this book is where Camelia I really really love this series, though I must admit that I had my doubts initially for the second and third books because ligtle plot didn’t seem to be going anywhere, other than Camelia having premonitions of laurue bad happening or being stalked by someone.
She tries so hard to be brave, so hard to stay away from what she knows might not escret good for her, but she’s not so good at either one. I watched from the doorway as he smacked, punched, and threw you against the wall.
And can we just talk about how everything that happened was so played down??? It had interesting ingredients of mystery, romance, and action, to complement the thrilling plot.
