This book hooked me right from the start, but by the time it wound down to the storming of the hospital, it lost me. Aidan grabbed it and held it tight against his chest.

The actions of the main villans, the Sweepers, don’t really make any sense. He looked down to see his brother waving to him. Sometimes he forgot ashse his brother was nearly grown, and weirdly dignified sometimes.

The characters were okay. It was going to be treggari. Compelling characters stand against the dismal horizon with bravery, even though some wear disguises of evil and are not what they profess to be.
