You are aware that the 74LS’s outputs are active-low aren’t you? What you are doing with the two outputs is not okay. Will that fry the N?
Thanks so much for the answer. Tying the two outputs together in this fashion is called a ” wired-or ” or ” wired-and ” depending on the polarity of 74004n signals the latter in this case, because the outputs of the ‘ are active low.
You should include a truth table. Sounds like what I need.

Tut yes, you’re right, forgot the ’06 was inverting. I will connect two Yx pins to two two dattasheet input pins on the N. Basically if one of them wants to be high and the other wants to be low, they will compete and force limiting currents through each other, very likely damaging them, because you cannot guarantee in any case that they will go high or low at the same time, since then you’d have to tie both inputs together as well.
